What is acupuncture?
Acupuncture is a form of health care that has been used in China for over 3,000 years. Acupuncture works with meridians, which are energy channels that run throughout the body, similar to blood vessels but rather than carrying blood, they carry energy (qi/chi).
There are hundreds of points along these meridians and each point can be utilized for a specific set of conditions or symptoms. Stimulating these points using needles, electrical current, heat, and/or pressure can correct imbalances in energy (qi/chi) within the body.
Acupuncture is used to treat thousands of conditions including, but not limited to: headaches, heartburn, hemorrhoids, infertility, pain, addiction, anxiety, and weight loss.
Acupuncture with Dr. Sara
Dr. Sara uses acupuncture as a stand-alone treatment and in conjunction with chiropractic adjustments. She is skilled in using needles, electrical current, pressure, and heat to get the best results and accommodate any fears or hesitancy about needles.
The first appointment takes about an hour and includes an in-depth discussion about the conditions we are going to work on, a short exam, and a treatment. Subsequent treatments take approximately 30 minutes and include a short discussion about the conditions we are working on and a treatment.
If you are already a chiropractic patient, your first appointment will just be a short discussion and a treatment.
